Tapestry, a
community handbell quartet, is sponsored by Monumental United Methodist
Church in Portsmouth, VA. Formed in July 2001, the ensemble plays for
churches, civic groups and schools throughout Hampton Roads, entertains
regularly at nursing homes and charity events, and has performed at the
American Guild of English Handbell Ringers Area III Directors’ Seminar.
Like the fabric and thread of a woven tapestry, the ensemble is a blend of
traits and talents that produces a fine texture of music to the glory of
God.
In 2003,
Tapestry was awarded the Ruth Morse Wilson Handbell Award from the National
Federation of Music Clubs, performed at the 2004 International Handbell
Symposium in Toronto, Canada and at the 2008 International Handbell
Symposium in Orlando, Florida. Members of the ensemble are Cindy Lewis from
Virginia Beach, Ann Morgan from Portsmouth, Charm Peterman from Yorktown,
and Marjorie Setnicky from Suffolk.
